Randy Massey is a third generation farmer and owner of M&M Plant Farms in Elon, North Carolina. Massey spent his childhood helping his grandfather and father farm the family’s land and found that he really enjoyed the challenge of farming. Like many generational farmers in North Carolina, Massey’s focus was tobacco. Since 2008, Massey has made the shift from growing tobacco to growing solely organic fruits and vegetables. They now have 32 acres of certified organic land, producing a wide variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables. Randy made the switch over to certified organic in order to get away from the use of synthetic pesticides, and to offer a better quality, more sustainable product.
